Denver Happy Hour @ Brik on York Wine Bar (2223 E Colfax Ave (23rd/York, City Park), Thursday 7/28/16 5:30p-7:30p

The Co-Host for the July’s Denver Happy Hour is Abbey Eldridge (Pediatric Renal Dietitian at Childrens Hospital Colorado).  I met Abbey at Cafe Bar back in the day.  We both lived in the Wash Park neighborhood and kept in touch.  She is helping to raise money and awareness for the National Kidney Foundation Denver Kidney Walk (You can sign up for the walk or donate at http://donate.kidney.org/site/PageNavigator/kidney_walk_splash.html)
Brik on York is a cool new restaurant in the City Park Neighborhood.  The owner Travis was generous enough to reach out to host our group.  Come check it out!

Abbey Eldridge, RD Bio: Abbey is a pediatric renal dietitian at Children’s Hospital Colorado. She has worked with the adult kidney disease population since 2007, and switched to working in pediatrics a year ago. Abbey is on the local board for the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), and is actively involved with many of the NKF’s events to raise funds and awareness about kidney disease. Abbey is currently conducting research to find better ways to manage and treat bone disease in children with kidney disease. In her free time she enjoys racing in triathlons, including the full Ironman distance. National Kidney Foundation: The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) is the largest, most effective and longstanding organization fighting kidney disease. We’ve been in continuous action for 65 years, supporting patients, caregivers, and professionals, and increasing awareness. Historically, kidney disease was not regarded as a major public health problem. Through the efforts of NKF, today kidney disease is being effectively treated as a serious condition. With skyrocketing rates of obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease worldwide, resulting in a corresponding increase in chronic kidney disease (CKD), our work is more important than ever. Our priority is the people we care about—those affected by CKD—and improving their lives through health screenings, research, education, and awareness.
More about Brik on York Wine Bar
Brik is Denver’s newest wine bar located in the Wyman Historic District on Colfax and York. The owner, Travis Gee, eloquently bridges the gap between Old World and New World concepts by combining his travels; love of wine and personal experiences under one roof. Through his vision, Travis creates a guest experience that is as much about decadent wine and delicious food as it is about the ambiance.
The objective of Brik is to provide region-specific wine and food parings, tasting events, and educational experiences as well as hosting live music and local artists. The essence of Brik is honoring the past and bringing passion to every aspect, from the location to the food to the wine. Brik features an open-kitchen with an authentic wood-fired oven imported from Italy. The menu
features Neapolitan Pizzas, artisan charcuterie and cheese platters, antipasti, fresh salads, and tapas featuring local, organic, seasonal and exotic ingredients. Brik, to the best of abilities, accommodates all guest’s allergies, preferences and dining customs.
