Denver Happy Hour @ Japoix, Thursday November 18th

The Co-Host for the Novembers’ Denver Happy Hour is Paul Piciocchi, Owner Zowzee (Denver’s Local Daily Deal Website). I think I met Paul at either the Funky Buddha or Alley Cats about 8 or 9 years ago. He’s a spectacular person and a rock star in starting up successful businesses. He owns several bars in Denver & Aspen. Also, he owns other businesses. My friend, Lawrence Yee just opened a restaurant Japoix. It’s a French Asian restaurant located in the old 975 space. He’s delighted to have us and sample some of his delicious food & drink. I’m looking forward to checking it out  See you there!

+More about Japoix

Executive chef Jay Spickelmier describes the Japoix menu as French-Asian -- but not fusion. On it, he mingles sushi and sandwiches and salads with a short board of fish, chicken and duck plates. And then there are the hot rocks: smoldering granite stones that sear meats (and whatever else you want to toss on the surface) in a matter of seconds. The raw meats -- lamb sirloin, Prime New York strip and filet, and Wagyu Kobe rib-eye -- are served with sliced pineapple, rings of peppers and a pickled salad, so an order makes a meal. The interior at this spot in the Beauvallon is a sleek, clean slate of garnet, espresso and ivory hues accented by splashy modern art -- all of it local -- with a community table (a holdover from Nine75) up front in the dining room, a narrow hallway of intimate deuces on the side, and a cosmopolitan back lounge, a perfect place to enjoy the two daily happy hours.
